haha! although maybe the costume would help you go “incognito”?
It’s great that you are able to dedicate time to a band, does your firm support practice sessions or do you simply all acknowledge that someone is likely to not show up on the day? I’m only saying because my old office’s football team was always short on players…who had to stay behind to work (perhaps that was only my experience).
I think “time off” be able to pursue passions is another big hurdle for employees, particularly for professionals who are expected to work well past business hours.
Any hobbies and/or the people participating with you in that hobby need to be flexible. Attending lessons, practice sessions or anything with a strict schedule can quickly become simply unattainable for many.
I also had a colleague that played violin and left promptly every Thursday at 5:00pm for rehearsals. Let’s just say it was “frowned upon”. It then caused tremendous raucous when a new mum asked to leave one day a week at the same time to pick up her child from nursery. Eventually both got their “permissions” denied… perhaps that’s a topic for another article ;).
Thank you for sharing and rock on!
